About the profile picture maker
A profile picture is seen far more often at 24–48 pixels than full size. Fine detail, small text and busy photos turn into a blur. The maker shows those sizes side by side while you edit, so you can choose a strong crop of your face or a simple logo with one or two letters that still reads when it’s tiny.
Who it’s for
New channels that need an icon quickly, and established channels testing a new logo or photo before switching.
What makes it different
- Live previews at 98, 48 and 24 pixels — the sizes your icon really appears at.
- Circle crop guide so nothing important gets cut off.
- Drop or paste a photo, drag to centre it, resize with the corner handle.
- 800×800 export, YouTube’s recommended size.
How to make a YouTube profile picture
- 1Start from initials, a photo or a template.
- 2Set the background colour or gradient and add your photo or logo; drag to centre it.
- 3Keep everything inside the circle guide — the corners are cropped off.
- 4Check the small previews, then download the 800×800 PNG or JPG.

Profile Picture Maker FAQ
What size is a YouTube profile picture?
YouTube recommends 800×800 pixels. It’s displayed as a circle, as small as 98×98 pixels on the channel page and smaller next to videos and comments. JPG, GIF, BMP and PNG are accepted (not animated GIFs).
Why does my picture look cropped?
YouTube shows it as a circle, so the corners of the square image are hidden. Keep important parts inside the circle guide.
Is it free?
Yes — no account, no watermark, and your photo stays in your browser.
