About the banner maker
The most common banner mistake is putting the channel name or upload schedule outside the safe area, where phones and desktop crop it off. With the guides switched on you can see exactly which part survives on each device. Keep text and logos in the middle, and use the rest of the canvas for a background that still looks good when it’s cut down.
Who it’s for
Creators setting up or refreshing channel art, and designers making banners for clients who need them to survive every device crop.
What makes it different
- Live crop previews for TV, desktop and mobile under the canvas, updated as you edit.
- Guides for every device plus the 1235×338 safe area, hidden in the download.
- Exports at 2560×1440 and keeps JPGs under YouTube’s 6 MB limit.
- Undo, snapping and drag-to-resize make layout quick without design software.
How to make a YouTube banner
- 1Start from a template or a blank 2560×1440 canvas.
- 2Set a background colour, gradient or photo — it fills the whole TV view.
- 3Add your channel name, a short line about what you post and your schedule. Keep them inside the inner “Safe area” guide.
- 4Toggle the guides to check desktop, tablet and mobile crops.
- 5Download a PNG or JPG (under 6 MB) with the guides hidden.

Tips
- Keep all text inside the 1235×338 safe area — everything outside may be cropped.

Banner Maker FAQ
What is the YouTube banner size?
2560×1440 pixels is recommended, the minimum is 2048×1152, and the file must be under 6 MB. Text and logos should stay within the central 1235×338 area to be visible on all devices.
Why is my banner cut off on mobile?
Phones and desktops only show a horizontal strip across the middle of the banner. Anything outside the safe area can be cropped.
Are the guides included in the download?
No. Guides only appear in the editor.
