About the size checker
The fix crops or pads the image to 16:9, resizes it to 1280×720 and compresses it as a JPG until it’s under 2 MB, then shows you the new file before you download it. It’s the quickest way to solve “Thumbnail too large” or a thumbnail with black bars, and nothing is uploaded — the image is processed in your browser.

Size Checker FAQ
What are YouTube’s thumbnail requirements?
A 16:9 image, ideally 1280×720 pixels, at least 640 pixels wide, in JPG, PNG, GIF or BMP format. Keep it under 2 MB — the limit for uploads from a phone; desktop uploads accept larger files.
How do I make my thumbnail smaller than 2 MB?
Save it as a JPG at 1280×720. The fix button does this automatically and lowers the quality just enough to fit.
Is my image uploaded?
No. Checking and fixing both happen in your browser.
