Acceptable Use Policy

Our tools make fictional screens look realistic. That’s great for stories and lessons — and harmful if used to deceive. Here’s where the line is.

Last updated October 1, 2026

Welcome uses

  • Entertainment, comedy, sketches and memes that are clearly fictional
  • Filmmaking, television, theatre, comics and other creative work
  • Storytelling and narrated videos, including text-story formats
  • Education, including digital-literacy and scam-awareness lessons with labelled examples
  • Product design, prototypes, mockups and presentations
  • Marketing mockups of your own products or with your client’s permission

Not allowed

You may not use Mocknex or images made with it to:

  • Commit fraud or run scams, including fake payment confirmations, fake delivery or bank messages sent to real people, or fake customer-support chats.
  • Impersonate a real person or organisation in a way that could mislead others about what they said or did.
  • Fabricate evidence for disputes, legal proceedings, workplace complaints, insurance claims, school matters or anything else.
  • Deceive or manipulate people, for example by presenting a mockup as a real conversation to damage a reputation or relationship.
  • Harass, bully, threaten or defame anyone.
  • Create fake reviews, testimonials or endorsements or other fabricated social proof.
  • Use someone’s photo, name or private information without their permission.

Good practice

  • Use fictional names, handles and phone numbers (for example 555-01xx numbers in North America).
  • Label mockups as “fictional”, “example” or “dramatisation” when they could be mistaken for real outside their context.
  • Keep the “fictional mockup” label on AI chat mockups, or label them in your caption.
  • Don’t use real companies’ logos; our tools deliberately don’t include them.

Reporting misuse

If you see a Mocknex mockup being used to deceive or harm someone, please contact us. Because everything is created in users’ browsers we don’t store the images, but we take reports seriously and can help with information about how mockups are made.

Breaking this policy also breaks our Terms of Use.
