Fake WhatsApp Chat Generator
Write a WhatsApp-style conversation, set the ticks and timestamps, and download a screenshot that looks right at a glance. Everything runs in your browser.
WhatsApp chats have a few details people recognise instantly: the time and ticks tucked inside the bottom-right of each bubble, the tail on the first message of a run, the yellow encryption note at the top and the beige doodle wallpaper. This generator reproduces those conventions in an original design, and adds the pieces creators ask for most — quoted replies, voice notes with waveforms, reactions, polls, location pins and missed-call bubbles — so you can build anything from a two-line joke to a full storyline.

How to create a fake WhatsApp chat
- 1Type the contact's name in “Contact name” and upload a profile photo, or leave it to show their initials.
- 2Pick a status line such as “online”, “typing…” or “last seen today at 9:12”.
- 3Edit the sample messages, or open Messages → Bulk edit and paste a whole conversation written as “Name: message”.
- 4Open “Time, receipts, reactions, reply” on any message to set the timestamp, one grey tick, two grey ticks or blue ticks.
- 5Add a voice note, photo, poll or date separator with the message type tabs (Text, Photo, Video, Audio, Location, More).
- 6Choose light or dark mode and, if you like, a phone frame under Preview appearance (the phone icon in the bottom bar).
- 7Press Download PNG. The default 3× quality matches a real iPhone screenshot.

Tips for a more convincing WhatsApp Chat mockup
- Real chats are uneven. Mix short replies (“ok”, “lol”) with longer messages and let one person send two or three in a row.
- Make times move forward in small steps. A gap of 0–3 minutes between quick replies looks natural; a jump of hours deserves a date separator.
- Only the last few messages are usually visible on a phone screen. Keep Screen height on “Phone screen” for realism, or switch to “Fit content” for a full transcript.
- Use blue ticks on everything except the last message or two if you want the classic “read but no reply” moment.
- For dark mode screenshots, check your photo avatars — a bright square photo stands out more than you expect on a dark header.
Use it responsibly. Mockups are for entertainment, education, design and storytelling. Don’t present them as real conversations, don’t impersonate real people, and never use them as evidence or to deceive anyone. Read our acceptable use policy.

WhatsApp Chat generator FAQ
Can I create a fake WhatsApp conversation for free?
Yes. The generator and every export — PNG, JPG and MP4 video — are free, with no watermark and no account.
Can I download the screenshot without signing up?
Yes. Press Download PNG and the image is created in your browser and saved straight to your device.
How do I show blue ticks?
Open “Time, receipts, reactions, reply” under one of your own messages and set Receipt to Read. Sent shows one grey tick and Delivered shows two grey ticks.
Can I make a WhatsApp group chat?
Yes. Turn on “Group chat” or add a third person. Each sender gets a coloured name above their messages, and you can mark people as admin. The Fake Group Chat Generator starts with a group already set up.
Can I add a voice message?
Yes. Pick the Audio tab above the message box, set a duration like 0:24 and choose who sends it. The waveform is drawn automatically.
Can I use the screenshot in a YouTube video?
Yes, for creative and entertainment use. Don't present it as a real conversation between real people, and don't use real people's names or photos without permission.
Is this affiliated with WhatsApp?
No. Mocknex is independent and isn't affiliated with or endorsed by WhatsApp or Meta. The design is an original recreation for mockups.
